In the beginning ofGail Miller my teaching career, I taught strictly how to read music because that is all I knew how to do.  Many years ago, however, I taught myself how to play by ear. People started calling me and asking me to teach them how to play the way I played, so I knew I had to come up with a lesson plan. That is when I developed my book “How to Play the Piano by Ear in Four Short Lessons”. I am very proud of it because I have placed hundreds of piano players in local churches, churches across the nation, and churches abroad since I started this. I have had at least a hand full of students that after only one lesson they played for congregational singing at their church that following Sunday.

I am very active in my church, Bethany Pentecostal Church. I am very involved in the Children’s Department, the Youth Department and the Worship Team. I am the leader of a Creative Ministry group of teens called P.L.P. (Peace, Love, & Praise) that travel around to different churches in our area and do Interpretive Dance. I have volunteered at local elementary schools over the years teaching Basic Music Appreciation.

What made me decide to develop a web site? One day my daughter, Kristal was on my computer and she stumbled onto something that she thought was important. You see, over the past 30 years I have rewritten hymns for my students. The regular church hymnbook is not an easy book to play from when you are a beginner. Most of my students want to play hymns right away. I wrote different popular hymns by hand onto manuscript paper and made copies for my students until I got “Hi Tech” and got some music writing software.  I spent many hours putting all of my music on the computer. When my daughter saw how many songs that I had written over the last 30 years she said that I should put these songs in print. She said that there are a lot of people that would love to play hymns this pretty, but can’t because they are not advanced enough in their piano playing skills.     That is when we compiled “Easy Piano Mountain Hymns Volume 1 & 2″ and “Easy Piano Christmas Carols”. You have to be able to read music to play out of these books, but not very well.  Then for the more advanced students(not too advanced) I rewrote those same hymns in a style called “Evangelistic Style”. The Evangelistic Style books are follow-up books for  my program “How to play the piano by ear in four short lessons”. I have all of these books for you and would love to have you purchase them.

If there are any musical questions that I can answer for you please e-mail me at and I will try to answer them as best as I can. I love music and you will be able to tell that in everything that I say and do. My husband jokingly says that if we would sell all of the music that we own we could pay our house off. Or maybe he’s NOT joking??? Most women get excited if their husbands buy them jewelry, I get excited if mine buys me a new music book or musical instrument.  Please write to me I would be glad to assist you in any way I can. Thank you for spending time in my web site.      In God’s hands,   Gail Miller
